Skagen Art is something quite exceptional.

From 1870's till the beginning of 1900's, Skagen was a popular venue for young, Nordic artists.  Skagen's wild, magnificent nature and the daily life of its local fishing community inspired and fascinated the visiting artists.  Their motifs from the region quickly became popular, and in the course of 1880's the artists became known as the "Skagen Painters".  Amongst the most renowned were P.S. Krøyer, Anna and Michael Ancher and Holger Drachmann.

But art is still very much alive in Skagen.  At the museums, where portraits of the Skagen Painters hang side by side.  In the galleries, where contemporary artists exhibit their works.  Even out in the sand dunes, where holiday guests, young and old alike, dabble and create their own version of a "Skagen's painting".

You too can take a break in Skagen and try your hand at creating your own piece of heaven.  365 days a year.
